Diana Crane Citret

From June till October, I gathered flowers and berries from my (very) informal garden to arrange and photograph.

I found a quiet corner outside, sheltered from the wind, and set up a small table with a wall of various fabrics and textures.. That became my studio for photographing each arrangement. Over the following weeks and months, I gathered flowers from around the garden, arranged them in this soft-lit space, playing with colors, texture and shape.

The arrangements got looser and simpler as the process evolved. Sometimes hours passed and I would return to my coffee after shooting with my close up lens on my Nikon and my iPhone.

At almost 6000 feet elevation the growing season is very short. The pressure of TIME is a motivator for a procrastinator.

I was looking at books on Japanese woodcuts over the summer and perhaps that influenced some of the work.

The flower portfolio spans from Spring’s first iris to Fall’s late berries.
